1. Agreement to terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of movingcost-calculator.com (the “Site”), including the calculator, pages, and export/share features (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing the Site you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Site.

2. What we provide — and what we don’t

We provide a free, client-side moving cost estimator and informational content for planning and comparison. We are:

• Not a carrier, broker, or marketplace. We don’t provide moving, packing, storage, or transportation services.
• Not a quote. Outputs are approximate, educational ranges — not binding, non-binding, or not-to-exceed estimates under FMCSA rules.
• Not financial/legal advice. Verify pricing, insurance/valuation, and terms with your chosen mover.

3. Estimate disclaimer — read before you book

All estimates are calculated from inputs you provide (distance, home size, floors/elevator, move type, date/flexibility, services). Actual mover charges depend on factors we cannot fully capture without a survey, including:

• Exact inventory weight/volume, fragile/specialty items (piano, pool table, shed, vehicle), and packing quality.
• Access: stairs, long carry (> ~75 ft), elevator reservation, shuttle, parking permits, tolls.
• Market rates, fuel, labour availability, and seasonal demand in your origin/destination.
• Valuation/insurance options, taxes (e.g., EU VAT varies 19–27%), tips, meals/lodging, and utility/permits.

Treat the range as a planning and negotiation aid. For a binding price, request a written in-home or video survey and a signed estimate that states the basis (weight, cubic feet, or hourly), valuation, and services included.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to:

• Use the Site for lawful, personal planning purposes and provide reasonably accurate inputs.
• Not misuse the Service: no scraping at scale, reverse-engineering, bypassing rate limits, injecting malware, or attempting to disrupt the Site.
• Not misrepresent an estimate as an official or binding quote from us or any mover.
• Not use the Site to harass, impersonate, or violate others’ rights.

We may throttle or block abusive traffic and update technical safeguards without notice.

5. Intellectual property

The Site’s design, text, rate tables, multipliers, copy, icons and code are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by IP laws. You’re granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Site for personal, non-commercial planning. You may copy a share link and export a PDF of your own estimate; you may not republish, resell, or create derivative works from the Service without written permission.

6. User content (contact messages)

If you contact us, you retain ownership of your message but grant us a license to use it to respond, improve the Service, and comply with law. You represent that your message is accurate, lawful, and doesn’t infringe others’ rights. Don’t send sensitive personal, financial, or health data via the contact form — use general descriptions.

7. Third-party links & services

The Site may link to movers, carriers, or resources. Those sites are governed by their own terms/privacy policies. We aren’t responsible for their content, rates, or practices. Google Fonts is used to deliver Inter/JetBrains Mono per Google’s terms.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don’t warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that estimates will match any mover’s final charge. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY ESTIMATE — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO USE THE SERVICE (WHICH IS $0 FOR THE FREE CALCULATOR) OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER, WHERE APPLICABLE LAW REQUIRES A MINIMUM.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some limits above may not apply; in that case, liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless movingcost-calculator.com and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may update the Service (rates, regions, currencies, features) and these Terms at any time. We’ll post the updated Terms with a new “Last updated” date; continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice on the Site.

12. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Site operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from the Service will be resolved informally first — contact support@movingcost-calculator.com — and if not resolved, in the courts of competent jurisdiction, where permitted by law. Consumer mandatory rights in your place of residence remain unaffected.

13. Severability & contact
